For those of us doing research that demands fieldwork and who have decided to start families, balancing all of the competing demands can feel overwhelming. In this project, Dr. Gretchen Meyers and I explore this juggling act. In 2016, we decided to undertake more rigorous data collection about this phenomenon and we conducted a survey of academics from all fields who undertake fieldwork. We also conducted in person and online interviews with a dozen more academics. For reports on this work, see:
